Frechette Chimney Is Licensed, Insured, Certified & Here for South Portland Homeowners

We take education and training seriously! Homeowners in South Portland, Ferry Village, Willard Square, Meeting House Hill, Loveitts Field, Fort Preble, Knightville, Mountainview Park, Pleasantdale, Fort Scammel, North Hampton, Eliot, Ogunquit, and all of the areas surrounding know they can trust in us for it all.

Two things we pride ourselves on at Frechette Chimney is our dedication to customer service and our commitment to maintaining the strong values of a family-owned business. We’re known throughout the communities we serve as honest, professional, courteous, and thorough, and we love that our customers feel comfortable reaching out with all of their chimney needs and questions.

Yet, no matter how devoted we are to those we serve, we wouldn’t be able to provide this superior service without investing in training and further education from reputable organizations within the industry. How do we do that? Through our certifications and memberships.

Now, we could tell you a hundred times that we’re certified sweeps, but what does that really mean? Many chimney companies claim to be certified without actually having any credentials to back that up. So, we’re here to expand on just who we’re certified with and what exactly that means for you as a client.

What Our CSIA Certification Means for You

The Chimney Safety Institute of America (CSIA) is held in high esteem throughout the country and is valued by sweeps and homeowners because of their dedication to education and a strong set of values. The CSIA is a non-profit organization run by a volunteer board of directors, all dedicated to ensuring homeowners stay as safe and knowledgeable as possible when operating their fireplace – and that sweeps are trained to safely maintain and repair fireplaces and chimneys.

One thing to note about the CSIA is that all certified sweeps must commit to a strict Code of Ethics. And if anyone violates this code, they want to know about it! This code ensures sweeps adhere to all proper codings and regulations, stay educated in all things chimney, conduct themselves as respected professionals, and always put the homeowners’ needs first.

We’re proud of our CSIA certification, and because it must be renewed every three years, it’s not something you get and never have to work to keep. You can bet we’re always on top of our game because the CSIA holds their sweeps to a higher standard!

What Our NFI Certification Means for You

When it comes to installing and servicing fireplaces, stoves, and the venting systems that accompany them, technical knowledge is a must. Even a minor slipup can lead to inefficiency, which then makes this big investment more of a hassle than anything else. That’s why the tech hired to install yours should be both well-versed in chimney anatomy and trained to install everything appropriately.

The National Fireplace Institute (NFI) is here to ensure sweeps are able to do just that. Like the CSIA, the NFI is a nonprofit organization and it sets the standard when it comes to proper chimney installation and maintenance. And in order to earn their certification, sweeps must pass an intensive exam ensuring they have the knowledge to back it up.

We’re Members of the NCSG, Too!

The National Chimney Sweep Guild (NCSG) is around to ensure sweeps have access to everything they need to grow and better serve the communities they love. They advocate for sweeps and hold them to a high standard, requiring all members to sign a Code of Ethics upon being accepted. Just like us, the NCSG values education and is committed to keeping homeowners safer and more informed. And as members, we’re empowered to do more for the customers we value!
