Hadlock Field opened in 1994 and was named after Edson Hadlock, a longtime Portland High School baseball coach. The stadium originally hosted local teams but became the home of the Portland Sea Dogs when the franchise was established in 1994.

In 2003, when the Sea Dogs became a Red Sox affiliate, the stadium underwent renovations, including the addition of a “Maine Monster,” a 37-foot-high replica of Fenway Park’s famous Green Monster. The park has since become a favorite spot for minor league baseball fans and regularly hosts sellout crowds.
